Vince McMahon reportedly called for a sign referencing AEW President Tony Khan to be removed during Monday’s (December 27) edition of WWE Raw.
As per the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, a sign that read “Nick=Con Tony=Khan” caught the attention of the WWE Chairman. Vince McMahon and a number of other executives weren’t backstage for the show, but McMahon had a direct line to the production truck feed, and saw the sign through that.
McMahon reportedly had ‘quite a reaction’ to the sign, before ordering people to get that sign out of there.
It was previously reported that a divide has formed between WWE and AEW names, however Tony Khan has confirmed that he has recently been in contact with WWE about the company potentially using current AEW talents for upcoming projects.
The backstage reaction to the AEW signing of Mercedes Martinez, who was released by WWE in August 2021, has now been revealed.
