Jim Ross Admits He ‘Doesn’t Understand’ Recent AEW Booking Decision AEW

When AEW first launched back in 2019, three championships were created for the company; the AEW World Championship, AEW Women’s World Championship and AEW World Tag Team Championship.

Over time, AEW has slowly started to introduce more titles to the company, with the TNT Championship, TBS Championship, all of Ring of Honor’s Championships and most recently the AEW All-Atlantic Championship making their debuts since then.

When the All-Atlantic title was revealed, it was met with a polarising reaction, with some fans believing the title to be ‘overkill’ and that there was no need to introduce the title.

AEW announcer Jim Ross recently spoke about the formation of the title on his Grilling JR podcast, where he admitted that he didn’t understand Tony Khan’s decision to introduce the title.

He said:

“I didn’t understand that (creating the All-Atlantic Title), but it doesn’t matter what I understand. I’m not against it, but did we need it? I don’t know that we needed it, but I also don’t know how big of an asset it’s going to be internationally for us.

“I know that we’re going to go to places, like PAC is defending that title now in the UK I get it all the time. When are you guys coming to England? When are you going to do a pay-per-view? When are you going to do this? Well, when we come to England, you can bet your ass it’s going to be big. Tony’s got great business contacts there.”

Pac became the inaugural AEW All-Atlantic Champion back at Forbidden Door, when he defeated Miro, Clark Connors and Malakai Black in a four-way.

Since Pac captured the title, he has yet to appear on AEW television, though did retain the title against Shota Umino in RevPro in a match that aired on this week’s episode of AEW Dark.

JR also seemed to confirm that AEW has plans to make it’s UK debut some time ‘in the next calendar year’. We recently put together a predicted card for the AEW UK show.
