AEW stars Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler of FTR will defend their gold at NJPW’s upcoming Royal Quest II event.
NJPW has confirmed that Kyle Fletcher & Mark Davis of Aussie Open will challenge for FTR’s IWGP Tag Team Championship on the first night of Royal Quest II on October 1.
This will be FTR’s first defence of the IWGP Tag Team Title since winning the gold at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door in June.
Aussie Open are the inaugural holders of the NJPW STRONG Openweight Tag Team Championship, defeating Christopher Daniels & Yuya Uemura in the title tournament finals, which aired on the August 13 edition of STRONG.
FTR currently hold the IWGP, ROH and AAA Tag Team Championship. Their most recent title defence took place at Death Before Dishonor, with Harwood and Wheeler victorious over The Briscoes in a 2/3 falls bout to retain their ROH Tag Team gold.
Dax Harwood has now teased that the duo will once again go after the AEW tag title. Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland of ‘Swerve in our Glory’ currently hold the AEW gold.
