WWE announced the highly anticipated Intercontinental Championship rematch between Sheamus and Gunther last week, with it set to take place on the October 7 episode of SmackDown from Worcester, Massachusetts.
The episode is being advertised as the ‘Season Premiere’ of SmackDown, marking three years since the show moved over to FOX in 2019, and will also serve as the go home episode of the show for Extreme Rules.
Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns is not currently expected to appear at the Extreme Rules event on October 8 the following day, but per the official DCU Center Twitter account, Worcester will be able to acknowledge their Tribal Chief on the show.
Roman Reigns is set to defend the title against Logan Paul at the November 5 WWE Crown Jewel premium live event in Saudi Arabia.
The WWE Extreme Rules premium live event is set to air the same day as AEW’s Battle of the Belts IV television special.
