Warner Bros Discovery CEO David Zaslav has reportedly reacted to rumors that the company is preparing to sell or merge.
Following the company’s recent cost-cutting measures, there has been some speculation about a potential merger with Comcast.
Deadline now reports, according to sources, David Zaslav denied these rumors in a Zoom call. It was noted that Zaslav didn’t address the pending layoffs in the 75 minute meeting that stretched across all of Warner Bros Discovery’s workforce.
Per the report, Zaslav stated:
“We are not for sale, absolutely, not for sale.”
“We have the strongest hand in the industry. We have everything we need to be successful to be the biggest entertainment media company in the world.”
Warner Bros Discovery notably owns the TBS and TNT networks, the homes of AEW Dynamite and Rampage respectively.
While Comcast Xfinity X1 and Flex customers currently enjoy WWE content via Peacock Premium at no extra cost, it was recently announced that the company will role these subscriptions to being paid in the future, meaning that customers will lose their free access to the NBCU Peacock Premium streaming service, the US home of the WWE Network.
There have previously been rumors about WWE potentially being sold to Comcast. Vince McMahon previously noted that Comcast offered WWE a ‘great deal’ in regards to streaming rights, prior to the WWE Network launching.
