Tony Khan Discusses Expanding AEW’s Live Event Calendar In 2023 AEW

AEW President and CEO Tony Khan has discussed expanding the company’s live event calendar in 2023.

On the November 2 edition of AEW Dynamite, Jeff Jarrett made his debut by attacking Darby Allin with a guitar following his bout against Jay Lethal.

Following the episode, All Elite Wrestling announced that Jarrett had been hired as Director of Business Development.

Jarrett previously worked as Senior Vice President of Live Events for WWE before being released in August 2022.

Speaking to Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Tony Khan commented on AEW potentially expanding their live event schedule next year.

When asked if fans would see an emphasis on live events, Khan said:

“Yes. It makes a lot of sense for AEW to expand our live calendar in 2023 and beyond. There are many places in the U.S. and all over the world where AEW is very popular, and this is a strategic opportunity to expand.”

The AEW President continued on to bring up Ring of Honor as another valuable asset to their roster when it comes to expanding live events, saying:

“We also have Ring of Honor. There are a lot of exciting possibilities for us in live events, and Jeff has such extensive experience as a third-generation businessman in pro wrestling.”

Khan concluded by praising Jeff Jarrett’s attributes which makes him a key acquisition, saying:

“He’s got tremendous experience in a number of fields, including live event promotions and international distribution.”

“His insight and knowledge are very valuable, and I’m excited to have Jeff join our great team.”

AEW currently runs at least one event per week with AEW Dynamite every Wednesday and Rampage taped afterwards. The company also offers its quarterly pay-per-view events.

Recently, the company has held separate tapings for AEW Rampage live on Fridays.

Meanwhile, Ring of Honor is currently not on television and All Elite Wrestling doesn’t run non-live televised events.

The ROH titles have been prominently featured as of late with Chris Jericho as the current Ring of Honor World Champion.
