WWE’s Elias has now shared his honest thoughts on Austin Theory’s Money in the Bank cash-in on the November 7 edition of Monday Night Raw.
During the show, Seth Rollins held a US Title open challenge. Finn Balor initially answered the call, but before a match could get underway, the OC confronted Judgment Day.
Later in the show, Seth Rollins came back out for his open challenge, and was attacked by Bobby Lashley.
Austin Theory then ran down and cashed-in his contract for a shot at the US Title, but came up short following interference from Lashley.
The cash-in faced a lot of criticism from fans for a variety of reasons, from Theory using the briefcase on a midcard title, to Theory choosing to cash in after Rollins attempted to hold an open challenge on several occasions.
Speaking on WWE The Bump, Elias revealed that he also took issue with the segment, noting:
“I’m gonna be honest here. I thought the whole thing was a little bit bizarre. First off, it’s an open challenge. So what are you doing in the first place?
“Secondly, then he wants to use it on a random Monday Night RAW. If I was Austin Theory and I had the Money in the Bank, I would have waited for a way bigger moment, and maybe somebody like Roman Reigns when they were vulnerable.
“So hey I get it. Seth, he’s resilient, he did it again, he came out on top. But as for Austin Theory, I think the whole thing’s bizarre all around.”
Elias made his return on the October 17 edition of Raw. Sadly, the Raw star’s brother Ezekiel hasn’t appeared on WWE TV since he was attacked by Kevin Owens on the August 8 episode.
