MJF made his long awaited return to AEW television back at All Out.
MJF was revealed as the masked joker in the Casino Ladder match at the start of the show, confronting AEW World Champion CM Punk after his victory over Jon Moxley in the main event.
After the show, the now infamous AEW All Out media scrum took place, with Punk going on a rant against the executive vice presidents of the company.
The situation led to an altercation between Punk, Ace Steel and the Elite, which resulted in all parties being suspended by the company.
The suspension, as well as an injury to Punk, led to the AEW World Championship being vacated, which Jon Moxley captured at AEW Dynamite Grand Slam.
MJF is set to cash in his poker chip against Moxley at Full Gear for the AEW World Championship.
Many people are upset that the original plan of MJF taking the title from Punk on the show has had to be changed, but MJF himself doesn’t seem to mind.
Speaking to the New York Post ahead of Full Gear, MJF said that he ‘doesn’t need a specific dancing partner’, and is fine facing off with Moxley for the title.
He said:
“This was a guy who during the height of the pandemic was defending his title, bleeding, sweating profusely in barbaric episodic week-to-week matches in front of no one, to a roar of nothing, and he was still able to have people talking about the three letters that are AEW.
“That’s a guy who deeply cares about the fan base. That’s a guy who deeply cares about professional wrestling. So, in that aspect, I’m over the moon that I’m wrestling this guy.”
