Former WWE Star Returns To Wrestling

Former WWE Star Returns To Wrestling WWE

Former WWE NXT Tag Team Champion Martin Stone (fka Danny Burch) has returned to wrestling, announcing his in-ring comeback.

Stone cut a promo during the December 18 Championship District Wrestling independent event, revealing that he has now been cleared to compete, following an injury.

He then called out August Artois, who it was revealed will be Stone’s opponent at the January 15, 2023 event.

Stone hasn’t wrestled since the August 24, 2021 NXT taping, during which he teamed with Oney Lorcan to face MSK. This match aired on the September 7 edition of NXT, ahead of the brand’s ‘2.0’ reboot the following week.

After the bout, Ridge Holland and Pete Dunne (Butch) turned on Lorcan and Burch, ending their alliance.

Stone was released from his WWE contract in January, during the first round of Performance Center cuts of 2022. Lorcan had been let go the previous November.

Lorcan returned to the ring as ‘Biff Busick’ in February and wrestled as an independent star before returning to WWE as a full-time Performance Center coach in October.
