WWE Hall of Famer and NXT producer D-Von Dudley was pulled from an ECW tribute show following a legal letter from WWE.
D-Von was slated to appear alongside Bully Ray (Bubba Ray) for Battleground Championship Wrestling (BCW) over the weekend. The December 17 Dudley Boyz reunion had been advertised since September.
The event, Tribute To The Extreme, appeared to pay homage to ECW, with the show notably emanating from the 2300 Arena.
Per PWInsider, BCW received a legal letter from WWE, who were upset about BCW playing off the ECW intellectual property.
After D-Von was pulled from the show, BCW reportedly reached out to WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H to get the edict reversed, but were not successful.
During the December 17 show, Timothy Embler told the live crowd that the promotion plans to make Tribute To The Extreme an annual event.
D-Von is currently a part of SVP of Talent Development Creative Shawn Michaels’ Performance Center team, currently serving as an NXT coach and producer.
