Former WWE Star Reveals Current Talent Thought She’d Be In 2023 Women’s Royal Rumble

A former WWE star has revealed that current talent thought she would be in the 2023 Women’s Royal Rumble match.

Every year, the Women’s Royal Rumble match bares witness to the return of former WWE stars and legends to make the yearly bout memorable.

In 2023, the match featured the returns of Michelle McCool, Chelsea Green and Nia Jax, but it was less former talent than in previous years.

One such star who current talent believed would be part of the contest was Danielle Moinet, better known as Summer Rae who spent six years with WWE.

During a signing for Golden Ring Collectibles, the former WWE star shared that she received a text message from Emma ahead of the Royal Rumble.

At a practice session for the match, talents assumed Summer Rae would be there or would be coming in as a surprise because she shared a video of herself training with Natalya in the lead up to the event. She said:

“So funny, Tenille (Emma) texted me from the Royal Rumble practice this last week and she goes, ‘I walked in and everyone –’ she goes, ‘Half the roster thought you were in the Rumble,’ and I was like, ‘What do you mean?’”

“And she was like, ‘Everyone thought you were fabing them and you’re in the Rumble because you were training with Nattie,’ like two weeks ago and I was like, ‘If I was in the Rumble, I wouldn’t post that I’m training with Nattie. I’d make it a secret.’ Isn’t that funny? Actually, like Dana (Brooke) and all those people…”

Rae did appear in the 2022 Women’s Royal Rumble match and was asked during the signing why she did not use her “Summer Crush” finisher. She answered:

“(I didn’t use the ‘Summer Crush’ in 2022 women’s Royal Rumble) because they (WWE) told people they didn’t want everyone coming in and just hitting a bunch of moves.”

“They didn’t want everyone coming in running a comeback because it gets a little monotonous… And Nattie and I had our feud so it was just nice to just get in there with her so, it was a cute little spot.”

“Nattie could have slapped me a little quicker. There was like this weird lag time. But, it was good and Nattie had like 45 minutes of match to remember so.”

Rhea Ripley started at #1 and set the record for longest time in a Women’s Royal Rumble match on her way to the win in the bout.
