An absolutely insane dream tag team could be set to form soon following last night’s NJPW Battle in the Valley show.
The show, which sold out following the announcement of Mercedes Mone’s return to the ring against KAIRI for the IWGP Women’s Championship, was headlined by the latest installment of a legendary rivalry.
Kazuchika Okada defended the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship against Hiroshi Tanahashi in the latest chapter of one of wrestling’s greatest feuds.
Okada won the title from Jay White at Wrestle Kingdom 17, and defended the title against Shingo Takagi at last week’s New Beginning in Osaka show.
The match saw Okada retain the title over Tanahashi, before he took to the microphone, where he said that it was time for the dream tag team to form, and for he and Tanahashi to team up to challenge for the IWGP Tag Team Championship.
The titles are currently held by Yoshi-Hashi and Hiroki Goto of Bishamon, who won the titles from FTR back at Wrestle Kingdom 17.
New IWGP Women’s Champion Mercedes Mone then came out to stand tall with Okada to close out the show.
