USA Network, WWE’s broadcast partner, has seemingly thrown shade at AEW owner Tony Khan following the recent episode of Raw.
With Jinder Mahal and Seth Rollins coming face to face on the January 8 episode of WWE Raw, things got brutal for the World Heavyweight Champion as can be seen in the video below this story.
It wasn’t just on screen that there was brutality either, with USA Network responding to a tweet about the history between Mahal and Rollins with what may be shade:
“What was the Cagematch rating?”
This came in response to Raj Giri’s tweet that read:
“These guys do have history. Seth Rollins defeated Jinder Mahal in the tournament finals to become the first NXT Champion. #WWERaw”
Cagematch was recently revealed as a benchmark that Tony Khan uses to measure the success of AEW and ROH.
Khan made the comments during the AEW Worlds End media call, though he did concede he would talk about TV ratings “much more.”
Eric Bischoff took issue with what Khan had said having previously been critical of Tony Khan being awarded Booker of the Year by Wrestling Observer.
The WWE Hall of Famer tweeted out “this can’t be real” in response to a post about the revelations.
As for the Cagematch rating for the WWE NXT episode that aired on August 29, 2012, it currently sits at 6.52 with 22 valid votes.
