Shawn Michaels has heaped praise on two top NXT stars, believing them to be the hottest things NXT has ever seen.
The duo of Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams have stepped up to the next level in recent months, with the pair set to take part in the final of the 2024 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.
Carmelo Hayes has been making a number of appearances on SmackDown in recent weeks, including a recent angle with Austin Theory and Grayson Waller attacking him.
Trick Williams made his first main roster appearance, helping his partner to an incredible ovation from the crowd, and Shawn Michaels has now heaped praise on the two.
Speaking on the Battleground Podcast, Shawn referred to Trick’s groundswell as ‘something we haven’t seen before’.
He said:
“You watch Trick, to step out of the shadow of Carmelo Hayes and then begin to start something that’s almost like a groundswell that we haven’t seen before. It’s when it happens from the very beginning, it’s ever organic and you watch it just get bigger and bigger.”
“Then to watch him do that, and to get to be a part of it to help guide and nurture along the way has just been a sheer joy for me to the both of them.
“When you see him run out on SmackDown and listen to the entire arena chanting, ‘Whoop that Trick,’ that’s when you know. It’s something even bigger than I think he imagined.”
Trick Williams is set to challenge Ilja Dragunov for the NXT Championship at NXT Vengeance Day this Saturday.
