After years of chasing his first singles championship, Chad Gable finally became Intercontinental Champion at SummerSlam in his hometown of Minneapolis, when he defeated Penta to win the gold.
Since then, Gable has gone on to have an incredible run with the title, putting on classic TV matches with names like Rey Mysterio, Dragon Lee and most recently Rey Fenix.
As Gable continues to rack up wins, there are a number of WWE stars we could see be in line to dethrone Gable for the gold.
Ethan Page
Ever since his call up to Raw on the Raw after WrestleMania 42, Ethan Page has made it clear that he has his eyes on the Intercontinental Championship, the symbol of excellence in the company.
Page has come up short a number of times when attempting to become champion, most notably at Saturday Night’s Main Event when he lost to Penta.
With Page now looking to get himself back in the title picture, he could be the obvious heel choice to dethrone Gable to transition the title over to another babyface.
Bronson Reed
After making his return to WWE during Oba Femi and Bron Breakker’s clash at Sunday Night’s Main Event, Bronson Reed is in the best shape of his WWE career right now.
Coming off a loss to Oba at Money In The Bank, Reed will remain a threat in WWE’s midcard, which could lead to the Auszilla dethroning Gable to win the Intercontinental Championship.
Reed is yet to hold a title on the main roster, so it would be a long time coming for him.
Dragon Lee
Coming up short against Gable on the WWE Raw show in Mexico City, Dragon Lee has seen his stock rise continually over the past few months.
Getting over to the fans solely through his in-ring ability, Dragon Lee would be the perfect choice to take the mantle from Gable, who previously took it from Penta, as the incredible workhorse champion on Raw.
Carmelo Hayes
This week’s WWE Raw ended with the shocking reveal of Carmelo Hayes joining forces with the 946.
The group is now five members strong, with them likely to set their sights on championship gold following this year’s War Games match.
With OTM after the Tag Team Championship and Royce Keys likely in line to face Roman Reigns, Carmelo Hayes may end up being the man that dethrones Chad Gable for the title.
