WWE
The first WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event is shaping up to be a noteworthy night with some significant matches on the card.
From grudges coming to an end to rivalries that are just getting started, there should be some surprises in Atlanta.
With the chance to shake things up as the year winds down, WWE could offer a few shocking moments for fans on September 6.
Here are six potential surprises at WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event.
6. Lil Yachty can actually wrestle
At WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event, Baron Corbin will face Lil Yachty in a five minute challenge.
If Yachty can survive the five minutes, Trick Williams will get a shot at Corbin’s United States Championship.
On the September 4 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Yachty showed off himself not really focusing on training inside the squared circle.
However, Yachty has been training with Ivy Nile off WWE TV and could show the world that he can actually wrestle come Sunday Night’s Main Event.
5. Trick Williams gets his United States Championship match on the spot & wins

The stipulation for the Baron Corbin vs. Lil Yachty match is if Yachty survives five minutes, then Trick Williams will get his rematch for the United States Championship.
There is no confirmation on when Williams will get that opportunity against Corbin right now.
However, WWE can surprise the fans by giving them an impromptu title match on the spot.
Trick getting his rematch against Corbin after the five-minute challenge will give Sunday Night’s Main Event some level of unpredictability.
4. Paul Heyman turns on Bron Breakker to align with Oba Femi
At WWE SummerSlam 2026 Night One, Oba Femi defeated Brock Lesnar in a Hell In A Cell. Following this loss, Lesnar passed the torch to Femi and called him “the future.”
This rare scene has led to Lesnar’s longtime manager and advocate Paul Heyman also showing respect to Femi as well.
Despite his respect for “The Ruler,” Heyman has also been the mentor and manager for Bron Breakker, calling him a future WrestleMania headliner.
Despite this relationship, Heyman might just turn on Breakker and align with Femi at WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event.
3. Bronson Reed returns

Ahead of WWE Elimination Chamber 2026, Bronson Reed suffered a torn bicep injury.
Since then, Reed has been out of action for months, but there have been updates that he could be on his way back.
With his Vision stablemate Bron Breakker set to face Oba Femi, this seems to be a perfect spot for Reed to make his comeback.
Reed returning to help Breakker makes a lot of sense and would give Sunday Night’s Main Event a memorable moment on the show.
2. Randy Orton goes after Cody Rhodes’ family
In the weeks leading to WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event, Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes have been given a no-contact stipulation or they would never get a shot at the Undisputed WWE Championship again.
To get under Rhodes’ skin, Orton has made various references to Cody’s family.
Considering WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event will take place in his hometown of Atlanta, Rhodes might just have his family in the crowd for his grudge match with Orton.
“The Legend Killer” going after his rival’s family would fit his character and make this rivalry even more personal.
1. Cody Rhodes turns heel & joins forces with Paul Heyman

On the road to WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event, Cody Rhodes made a reference about making a spoiler not a prediction.
This seemed to tease Rhodes potentially joining forces with Paul Heyman down the road.
Considering both men will be on this show, WWE has a chance to start their next major alliance.
The WWE Hall of Famer coming out to help Rhodes get revenge on Orton could be the start of a heel run for “The American Nightmare” as he becomes the latest “Paul Heyman Guy.”
