Following WWE WrestleMania 42, AJ Lee once again decided to take some time away from the company.

Since making her return in 2025, Lee had quickly established herself as a living legend in the WWE women’s division.

After making her mark upon her return following a decade-long absence, Lee could face any number of different WWE stars upon her comeback this time around.

Here are eight potential options for AJ Lee’s WWE return opponent.

8. Lyra Valkyria

At the July 18 edition of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, Lyra Valkyria defeated Bayley.

After the match, Valkyria brutalized Bayley and viciously assaulted with a beatdown ending with the Night Wing on the steel steps.

Since this night, Valkyria has been bragging about taking Bayley out of WWE for good.

Being one of Bayley’s closest friends in wrestling, AJ Lee could return to defend her honor against Valkyria in what would be a battle of generations.

7. Sol Ruca

Since her arrival on the WWE main roster, Sol Ruca has found a way to make her mark.

At WWE Clash In Italy 2026, Ruca defeated Becky Lynch to win the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship.

Earlier this year, AJ Lee held that same title and also beat Lynch to do so as well.

If and when she returns, Lee might want to step in the ring with one of the young stars in the WWE women’s division against Sol Ruca down the line.

6. Raquel Rodriguez

On the July 27 edition of WWE Raw, Raquel Rodriguez defeated Sol Ruca to win the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship.

With her combination of size, strength and rage, Rodriguez has finally won her first singles title on the main roster.

As previously mentioned, AJ Lee won her first singles title in a decade when she defeated Becky Lynch to win the gold at WWE Elimination Chamber 2026.

While that reign was short-lived, Lee could get a second run started by overcoming Rodriguez for the Women’s IC Title upon her return to WWE.

5. Paige

At WWE WrestleMania 42 Night One, Paige made her return to the company for the first time in a decade.

Teaming with Brie Bella, Paige was able to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships at Mania.

Ever since Paige made her return, fans have speculated if she could rekindle her rivalry with AJ Lee after all these years.

When Lee makes her comeback, it feels inevitable that she will clash with Paige one way or another.

4. Nikki Bella

Speaking of Paige, she made her return at WrestleMania 42 to replace Nikki Bella.

However, Bella resented Paige for stepping up to fill her spot and wound up turning on her friend following their six-woman tag team loss at WWE SummerSlam 2026.

This has led to a rivalry between Paige and Nikki Bella over the past month, but it could also open the door for AJ Lee to return and revive a lengthy feud with one half of the Bella Twins.

Lee coming back to stand by Paige against The Bellas would be a fun and interesting story to explore moving forward.

3. Charlotte Flair

One of the top names in the WWE women’s division is still Charlotte Flair.

The 14-time WWE Women’s Champion has already etched her legacy and is still going strong on Friday Night SmackDown.

While Flair is currently embroiled in a feud with Jade Cargill, “The Queen” could find a new rival in a legend like AJ Lee.

In what would be a first time ever dream match, AJ Lee stepping in the ring with Charlotte Flair is something that fans thought they would never see, but they still have the chance to see it go down somewhere down the road.

2. Roxanne Perez

Since starting her pro wrestling career, Roxanne Perez has made it crystal clear that she drew inspiration from AJ Lee.

Calling the legend her “pro wrestling mother,” fans have seen Perez credit Lee for who she has become today.

Following in Lee’s footsteps, “The Prodigy” looks poised to become a world champion and a future WrestleMania headliner.

Whenever AJ Lee comes back, she would be hard-pressed to find a more ready and prepared star who will be chomping at the bit to face her more than Roxanne Perez.

1. Liv Morgan

Someone else who has been inspired by the journey of AJ Lee is none other than Liv Morgan.

Drawing several different parallels, Morgan grew up in New Jersey just like Lee and followed the same path into the pro wrestling industry.

Now currently holding the WWE Women’s World Championship, there might not be a bigger opponent for AJ Lee upon her return than Morgan right now.

Liv challenging AJ would see these two Jersey natives doing battle for the gold on a major stage somewhere soon.
