Determining The ‘Four Pillars’ Of AEW’s Women’s Division

What Makes A Pillar?

First things first, we need to narrow down the potential field, so we need to really determine what makes a ‘pillar’ in AEW.

The definition of a fan term is always going to cause some controversy, as everyone will see it in a different way, but for me here in this piece, a potential pillar will need to be the following:

  • Under 30-years of age
  • A ‘homegrown’ AEW star (I.E. not coming in from WWE or another major promotion)
  • Never have held the AEW Women’s World Championship
  • A full-time member of the AEW roster (listed on the website, received the ‘#AllElite’ graphic)

From the get go this prevents us from falling into the trap on naming some of the divisions top stars as Pillars. We are looking for the future here, and not the present. While a lot of the women I disqualified will still ascend to further future stardom, we’ll avoid them for this list.

Britt Baker, Thunder Rosa. Hikaru Shida, Ruby Soho, Toni Storm, Serena Deeb, Nyla Rose and Tay Conti are already among the division’s top stars, so sorry ladies, but you are where we will be aspiring to get the pillars to, so consider yourselves the standard bearers here.
