With Drew McIntyre being off WWE TV for five months, there has been a lot of speculation about plans for his eventual return.
With McIntyre filming multiple movies during his absence, recent reports indicating that he’s back in the US have led to rumors swirling about the Scottish Warrior potentially appearing on Raw or SmackDown.
From going after a world title to challenging for the one title he needs to become a Grand Slam winner, there are a number of avenues for the company to take regarding the former Undisputed WWE Champion’s comeback.
Here are three options for potential Drew McIntyre return plans.
United States Championship reign
This Friday (September 25), Trick Williams will defend the United States Championship against Baron Corbin in a Steel Cage match.
If Drew McIntyre does return on this week’s SmackDown, we could see him take out the winner of this match in an attempt to further cement his place in WWE history.
The Scottish Warrior is one of several stars who are a single title win away from being a WWE Grand Slam winner by the modern rule-set, with McIntyre needing to win the US Championship to achieve this accolade.
While the likes of Cody Rhodes, Matt Cardona and Shinsuke Nakamura are also one title away from a Grand Slam, if Drew McIntyre actively pursues the US Championship, he’d likely be the next star to join one of WWE’s most exclusive clubs.
Bloodline feud
Drew McIntyre’s most recent in-ring outing was at WrestleMania 42, with the Scottish star coming up short against Jacob Fatu in their Unsanctioned match on April 18.
With how violent their rivalry was, we could see McIntyre return on Raw to seek revenge on Fatu, and the rest of his family.
McIntyre has had a long-standing feud with the Bloodline, holding grudges against most individual members following their interference in his WWE Undisputed Universal Championship match against Roman Reigns at Clash At The Castle 2022.
Whether he challenges for Roman Reigns’ World Heavyweight Championship or takes out Jacob Fatu, there are plenty of options for him to reignite feuds with the Bloodline, especially with Survivor Series: WarGames being right around the corner.
Undisputed WWE Championship picture
The first time the Undisputed WWE Championship changed hands this year was on January 9, with Drew McIntyre dethroning Cody Rhodes in Berlin, Germany.
The WWE Title has changed hands four more times since then, with Cody Rhodes, Sami Zayn, CM Punk and Sami Zayn again reaching the top of the mountain.
Sami Zayn holding WWE’s top title will make it particularly appealing to Drew McIntyre, who has a 13-0 singles record against the current Undisputed WWE Champion.
After his brief reign earlier this year, and extremely successful record against the current champion, reinserting Drew McIntyre into the Undisputed WWE Title picture feels like a no-brainer.
