Sami Zayn WWE rematches to take place soon: Three stars who could renew their rivalries with the Undisputed WWE Champion

Sami Zayn is a two-time Undisputed WWE Champion, winning back the gold on the September 11 edition of SmackDown.

Amid speculation about his championship reign, there have been rumors swirling about upcoming matches for the WWE Grand Slam winner.

There are a number of stars who Zayn could step back into the ring with in the coming months, writing new chapters for their stories.

From former faction members to ex-champions, these stars could pose a threat to Sami Zayn’s title reign.

Here are three stars who could soon face Sami Zayn in rematches:

CM Punk

Following recent episodes of SmackDown, a third Undisputed WWE Championship match between Sami Zayn and CM Punk feels inevitable.

On July 6, CM Punk made his return on Raw and defeated Sami Zayn for the WWE Title, ending Zayn’s first world title reign after just nine days.

Sami Zayn won back the gold on the September 11 SmackDown episode, with Kevin Owens accidentally taking out CM Punk in the closing moments of the match, allowing Zayn to capitalise and score the victory.

Kevin Owens challenged for the gold on the September 18 show, but came up short following CM Punk interfering to strike Owens with the title belt.

The Undisputed WWE Championship scene has been exciting and unpredictable recently, however Zayn and Punk will probably remain key players in the title picture in the coming months.

Drew McIntyre

Given their single match track record, Drew McIntyre could be a huge threat for Sami Zayn’s Undisputed WWE Championship reign. 

Sami Zayn has been unable to score a singles victory over Drew McIntyre in WWE, with the Scottish Warrior up 13-0 over the current WWE Champion.

The two stars most recently went one-on-one at Royal Rumble, with McIntyre defending the Undisputed WWE Title against Zayn.

Drew McIntyre has been off WWE TV since April, but given his 55 day title reign earlier this year, it’d make a lot of sense for the Scottish star to vie for Sami Zayn’s gold following his return.

Roman Reigns

If Sami Zayn and Roman Reigns are both still champion by November 7, the former teammates will face off at Crown Jewel.

In a tradition started in 2024, the Undisputed WWE Champion and World Heavyweight title-holder face off to crown the Men’s Crown Jewel Champion, as of writing that is set to be Sami Zayn vs Roman Reigns.

This would be a huge rematch, following Sami Zayn challenging for Roman Reigns’ WWE Undisputed Universal Championship at Elimination Chamber 2023, following his run in the Bloodline as the Honorary Uce.

While Zayn and Reigns have since shared the ring both as allies and opponents, this would be the first televised one-on-one match between the two stars since February 2023, and a lot has changed over the past three years.
