Following this loss, it should be interesting to see what will be next for Penta moving forward.
Whether it be going after gold again or changing scenery, the next move will be an important one following the biggest match of his career.
Here are some potential future plans for Penta after losing to Roman Reigns on WWE Raw in Mexico City.
Rematch with Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship
Penta losing in his first match for the World Heavyweight Championship shouldn’t remove him from the title picture.
After fighting his way through the number one contender’s tournament, the masked luchador felt like a credible challenger for Roman Reigns.
This loss against “The OTC” showcased that Penta could push the top star to the limit.
Wanting one more opportunity, Penta could challenge Reigns one more time sooner rather than later.
Going back after the WWE Intercontinental Championship
At WWE SummerSlam 2026 Night Two, Chad Gable defeated Penta to win the Intercontinental Championship.
This ended the five-month reign for the former AEW star who really proved himself as a fighting champion.
Now that he has failed to win the World Heavyweight Championship, Penta might want to go after the title he lost just one more prior.
Penta challenging Gable to a rematch would make for a tantalizing title bout before long.
Return to Lucha Libre AAA
During his WWE Intercontinental Championship reign, Penta made his return to Lucha Libre AAA.
Then, Penta recently made his return and drew the ire of his former stable, Los Perros Del Mal.
At AAA Ola de Calor, Dragon Lee and The Lucha Bros defeated Los Perros Del Mal. Post match, Daga, Berto and Angel jumped all three men to stand tall.
Wanting revenge on the group, Penta could return to AAA to go after Los Perros after their most recent attack on his brother Rey Fenix at TripleMania 34.
Moving to Friday Night SmackDown
Since arriving in WWE, Penta has been part of the Monday Night Raw roster over the past two years.
During his time, Penta has faced some of the top talent on the red brand, including Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins.
This could open the door for a change of scenery for the masked luchador coming out of his loss to Reigns.
Penta moving to SmackDown would present some intriguing possibilities for the former Intercontinental Champion moving forward.
Lucha Bros reunion with Rey Fenix
One of those intriguing possibilities could be Penta reuniting with his brother Rey Fenix.
On the August 31 episode of WWE Raw, Penta defeated Fenix to win the World Heavyweight Championship number one contender’s tournament finals.
Following this bout, the company could choose to pair Penta with Fenix either on Raw or SmackDown.
Whether it be on Monday or Friday nights, The Lucha Bros reuniting could revitalize the entire WWE tag team division in a major way.
