At WWE Backlash 2026, Roman Reigns will defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Jacob Fatu in the main event.

Regardless of the result, it seems Reigns will remain a top star and featured name on weekly WWE TV moving forward.

Coming off the heels of this premium live event, it will be intriguing what will be next for The OTC in the coming weeks and months ahead.

Here are six potential Roman Reigns plans after WWE Backlash 2026.

6. Making Jacob Fatu acknowledge him as “The Tribal Chief” & bringing him into The Bloodline

On the April 20 WWE Raw After WrestleMania 42, Jacob Fatu stepped up to challenge Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship.

In response, Reigns asked if Fatu was ready for this challenge and to acknowledge him as his Tribal Chief if he didn’t get the job done.

The OTC has recently reunited with The Usos to reform The Bloodline now that he is World Heavyweight Champion again.

5. Helping The Usos to regain the World Tag Team Championship

The Usos’ recent World Tag Team Championship reign lasted 90 days

During the height of The Bloodline, Roman Reigns and The Usos sat at the mountaintop as record-breaking champions.

With Reigns enjoying a 1,316-day historic reign as Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, Jimmy and Jey Uso held the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship for a record 622 days.

Now that The OTC has the World Heavyweight Championship in his possession, he may want his cousins to have some gold of their own.

After losing the World Tag Team Title to The Vision’s Logan Paul and Austin Theory in March, The Usos could look to regain the gold and bring the title back to The Bloodline.

4. Long-awaited battle with Bron Breakker

Back on the WWE Raw After WrestleMania 41, Bron Breakker joined forces with Seth Rollins and Paul Heyman to form The Vision by attacking Roman Reigns and CM Punk.

Despite several different run-ins with one another over the past year, Breakker and Reigns have never gone one-on-one with each other.

It seems pretty obvious that WWE was waiting for the right time to pull the trigger on Breakker battling Reigns in a singles match.

With Roman now holding the World Heavyweight Championship, Breakker has stated that he’s looking to win this gold, which would require taking down The Tribal Chief once and for all.

3. WrestleMania 42 rematch with CM Punk

At WWE WrestleMania 42 Night Two, Roman Reigns defeated CM Punk to win the World Heavyweight Championship.

This rivalry has gotten extremely personal on the road to Mania with Punk bringing up Reigns’ late father, while Roman questioned The Best In The World on being too old to hold the mantle of World Heavyweight Champion.

Now that the dust has settled after The Show of Shows, it feels like things are not completely over between Punk and Reigns.

Despite The Second City Saint currently being away from WWE TV, Punk could return following Backlash 2026 and get his rematch against The OTC for the title.

2. Rekindling rivalry with Seth Rollins

Roman Reigns last faced Seth Rollins in the main event of WrestleMania 41, in a three-way match also featuring CM Punk.

For the past 12 years, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins have been embroiled in a rivalry with one another ever since the breakup of The Shield.

Once brothers in arms, Reigns and Rollins have been jockeying for position at the top of WWE.

Back in October 2025, Rollins was forced to relinquish the World Heavyweight Championship due to a serious shoulder injury.

With his mission to regain the title he never lost, Rollins could be looking to challenge his former Shield brethren once the dust settles at WWE Backlash 2026.

1. Showdown with Oba Femi

At WWE WrestleMania 42 Night Two, Oba Femi defeated Brock Lesnar in what was the biggest victory of his career.

Following this win, Femi addressed his future on the Mania post show where he directly called out Roman Reigns after Reigns’ World Heavyweight Title win.

Considering Reigns told Femi to prove himself, it feels like WWE is gearing up for a collision between “The OTC” and “The Ruler.”

Whether it be at WWE SummerSlam 2026 or earlier, Femi feels like he is on a meteoric rise that will lead to an inevitable showdown with Reigns sometime after the Backlash 2026 premium live event.
