Sami Zayn WWE Plans After Saturday Night’s Main Event

Just nine days after winning the Undisputed WWE Championship at Night of Champions, Sami Zayn lost the title to CM Punk on the July 6 episode of Monday Night Raw.

After Cody Rhodes challenged CM Punk for WWE SummerSlam 2026 and GUNTHER wanted to face both men, a tag team match was announced with ‘The Ring General’ teaming with Zayn to face the Undisputed WWE Championship opponents.

With this bout set for WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, all eyes will be on Zayn coming out of this show to see what he might do after losing the title and with SummerSlam ahead.

Here are six potential Sami Zayn WWE plans after Saturday Night’s Main Event.

6. Somehow Sneaks Himself Into The Undisputed WWE Championship Match At SummerSlam 2026

Following his Undisputed WWE Championship win in Chicago, CM Punk showed up on the July 10 SmackDown and wanted anyone to step up to be his first challenger, but he got Cody Rhodes instead.

Rhodes would go on to challenge Punk for WWE SummerSlam 2026, which was immediately made official.

Taking some time off for a mental health break following his loss, Zayn was not in the arena to stop this match being made and now has to deal with the fact that he is deserving of a rematch.

Using lawyers and every trick in his book, Zayn could sneak his way into this Rhodes vs. Punk Undisputed WWE Championship match at SummerSlam 2026 and have the opportunity to walk out of Minneapolis a two-time world champion.

5. Rekindling Rivalry With GUNTHER

Back at WWE WrestleMania 40, Sami Zayn defeated GUNTHER to end his historic 666-day reign as Intercontinental Championship.

Years later, Zayn and GUNTHER find themselves involved in the Undisputed WWE Championship scene.

After costing ‘The Ring General’ the title as the special guest referee, Zayn then went on to win the gold himself at WWE Night of Champions in a three-way with GUNTHER and Cody Rhodes.

If they fail to beat Rhodes and CM Punk at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, the company could easily have Zayn clash with GUNTHER once again sooner rather than later.

4. Joining GUNTHER In Feud Against SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis

On the July 10 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, GUNTHER gave Nick Aldis an ultimatum to make a change to the CM Punk vs Cody Rhodes Undisputed WWE Championship match at SummerSlam 2026.

When Aldis made the tag team match for WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event instead, GUNTHER became irate and viciously assaulted the SmackDown General Manager.

After choking out Aldis and putting him on the shelf for now, GUNTHER might need some backup to save himself from the repercussions of his actions.

Sami Zayn being a conspiracy expert might be the best person to argue in favor of GUNTHER as they form an unlikely alliance coming out of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.

3. Regaining The United States Championship Against Trick Williams Again

At WWE WrestleMania 42 night two, Trick Williams defeated Sami Zayn to win the United States Championship.

Then, Zayn failed once again to beat Williams in a US Title match at the WWE Backlash 2026 premium live event.

After losing the rematch, Zayn changed his direction back to his issues with Cody Rhodes and winning the Undisputed WWE Championship.

Now that he has lost the WWE Title, Zayn might want to regain the US Championship to start his journey back to the top prize in the company.

2. Heading To Monday Night Raw To Avenge His Undisputed WWE Championship Loss

Despite the Undisputed WWE Championship being SmackDown’s top title, Sami Zayn was forced to defend the title for the first time on the July 6 edition of Monday Night Raw.

This led to CM Punk replacing Cody Rhodes to defeat Zayn to win the Undisputed WWE Championship in Punk’s hometown of Chicago.

Feeling cheated by the way everything went down, Zayn might want to return to the red brand to avenge his title loss.

Moving from SmackDown to Raw could also see Zayn reuniting with The Bloodline now that the group has reunited with Roman Reigns holding the World Heavyweight Championship.

1. Facing A Returning Randy Orton

At WWE WrestleMania 42 night one, Cody Rhodes defeated Randy Orton to retain the Undisputed WWE Championship. After the match, Orton attacked Rhodes, laying him out with the title belt and a Punt Kick to the skull.

Since this loss, Orton has been absent from WWE television with no signs of his return at this time.

With Zayn feeling cheated out of the WWE Title, he might need to be shut up by someone like Orton.

‘The Legend Killer’ returning to face off and feud with Zayn would be a fresh, new feud that could lead to a high profile match at the WWE SummerSlam 2026 premium live event.
