Several Former AEW Champions’ Contacts Expiring Soon

This past weekend’s All In London pay-per-view saw the debut of The New Level (Austin Creed & Kofi); arriving in AEW after departing WWE in May.

While there is rightfully a great amount of excitement about this new addition to the AEW roster, there are also a number of stars who could potentially be on their way out the door in All Elite Wrestling soon.

Here are three former AEW champions with contracts reportedly expiring soon.

Max Caster

In early August it was reported by Fightful Select that former AEW World Tag Team Champion Max Caster’s AEW contract was due to expire in October this year.

After being a fixture of AEW TV in 2025 with his Best Wrestler Alive Open Challenge, Caster has not wrestled once for the company in 2026.

This alone suggests that his days in the company may be numbered, and this would be a great shame given how popular an act he and former tag partner Anthony Bowens were just a few years ago.

With that being said, Britt Baker’s recent return proved that lengthy absences don’t necessarily mean a talent will depart, so we’ll likely have to wait until October for confirmation on Caster’s future.

Scorpio Sky

No stranger to lengthy AEW absences himself; Scorpio Sky has thankfully managed to put together his most consistent spell on TV in years over the past 12 months.

Sky missed a year of action between June 2022 and July 2023 due to injury, but, then spent almost two years off AEW TV between October 2023 and July 2025, with uncertainty regarding exactly why this was the case.

While Sky has been back as the leader of Skyflight for the last year, it was reported on June 26, 2026 that his contract with AEW was due to be coming up in “a few months.”

It’s unclear exactly when his deal will expire, but Sky seemingly confirmed his impending exit a few weeks after that report when he said he was focusing on “finishing this chapter the right way.”

Anthony Bowens

The most recent AEW contract expiry news on this list relates to The Opps’ Anthony Bowens, with Fightful Select reporting that his deal is due to be coming up “in the next month.”

While his former tag team partner Max Caster hasn’t been on AEW TV at all in 2026, Bowens has been, making this latest development somewhat more surprising.

Bowens even competed on Sunday at AEW All In London – albeit during the Buy In – when he teamed with HOOK, Katsuyori Shibata and Action Andretti against The Rascalz & Lio Rush. Although he has been on TV more than Caster, he also didn’t quite hit the heights as a singles star that many fans expected when The Acclaimed split up.

Now he’s back in a group  and not positioned high up the card, Bowens may fancy his chances on the free agent market rather than remaining in AEW. Like Caster, it’s unclear whether AEW want to re-sign Bowens on new terms and he is holding off, or whether negotiations have even started between the two sides; so we must wait and keep an eye on the news for any further developments.
