3. Edge vs. Adam Cole
If one person on the NXT roster is reminiscent of a young Edge, it is Adam Cole. Incredibly talented, good promos, comedic ability, and unquestionable charisma make Cole the complete superstar for today’s audience. If WWE wants to treat him seriously and give Cole the best possible chance on the main roster, a match with Edge would do the trick.
The two could have an incredible match as could every other entry on this list. Adam Cole, however, might benefit the most from a match with the Master Manipulator. Outside of brief appearances last fall, Cole has not had the main roster exposure that many of the others on this list have had. Thus, if he were to immediately enter into a feud with a star the caliber of Edge, he could solidify his place in the WWE main event scene in one night.
And it would be an incredible match. Did I say that already?
2. Edge vs. AJ Styles
One of the dream matches of the 2000s, while Edge was tearing it up on Raw and SmackDown in the late 2000s, AJ Styles was doing the same in TNA. While Edge had to step away from wrestling in 2011, Styles continued to ascend. Time in New Japan Pro Wrestling made him an even more well-rounded performer when he reached WWE in 2016 and now is in the position to finally clash with the Rated R Superstar.
Styles separated his shoulder in the Royal Rumble match taking a Spear just when it looked like a feud with Edge was building. If Styles is able to recover in time for WrestleMania he could be in line for a real dream match. Each of Styles’ WrestleMania matches have fallen just short of the level you might expect from him but a match with Edge could solve that problem and give Styles his classic Mania match.
1. Edge vs. Seth Rollins
Here it is. Years after being threatened by Seth Rollins, now we have the chance to see Edge get a measure of revenge.
You won’t find too many performers on the WWE roster with the talent of Seth Rollins and you also won’t find too many better opponents for Edge to face at WrestleMania. Rollins is coming into his own as a heel once again with his newfound stable and he will need a top babyface to collide with come April. Unless his feud with Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe lasts until then, Edge could be the perfect fit.
There was talk of including the likes of Rey Mysterio, Randy Orton and John Cena on this list but for maximum impact, Edge should face a younger star who he can help elevate to his level. Edge retired as one of the top stars on the WWE roster and he has the chance to come back at the same level. Bringing someone like Seth Rollins up with him should be everyone’s goal.
