WrestleTalk Roundtable – WWE SmackDown 1000

What was the worst part of last night’s episode?

Eric Stites

My least favorite part of this show was the last moment when the Undertaker came out and just hyped up Crown Jewel. I don’t care about that match and just saying “rest in peace” did nothing to help me change my mind. It was so brief and therefore seemed so rushed and unimportant.

On a show that should feel like a celebration, I found it deeply ironic that Vince would strut all the way down to the ring for the express purpose of pointing out just how unentertaining Shane and Stephanie’s bickering was.

Of course he was absolutely right. But you don’t book a segment to be purposely deflating and irritating, just so that you can come out and remind everyone involved how pointless and annoying it is. SmackDown 1000 should be entertaining, I agree Vince! So then why are you kicking it off with that human version of Monopoly, Stephanie McMahon?

At least we got a few minutes of Truth TV (complete with the occasional dance break) before the McMahon egos took center stage.

I never thought I would say that the Undertaker had the worst segment of the night, but here I am. Seeing him come out almost weekly has taken a bit of the excitement away from him, so I find myself actually judging his promos; when he came out and said exactly word-for-word what he said in his promo last night, I could not help but internally “boo” him.

I wish he would have given the fans more, especially for such an important show. The validity of it was also lessened by the fact that Triple H presented himself as a member of D-Generation X one night, and Evolution the next (although Evolution is obviously for nostalgia’s sake).

Brian Farrell

Of course it’s the McMahon segment, why wouldn’t it be the McMahon segment? Now, to be fair, I didn’t outright hate anything about it, but it felt like it went on too long, and didn’t serve much of a purpose. Truth TV was fun, but Carmella and R-Truth really took a major backseat when the McMahons arrived. This didn’t start the show off on the right foot, and was stale enough to be the worst thing in this show for me.
