WWE Intercontinental Championship
Seth Rollins (c) vs. The Miz
Say what you want about the pay-per-view as a whole, the main-card opener between Seth Rollins and The Miz for the WWE Intercontinental Championship was cracking. We all knew the score going in. Miz has just moved to SmackDown Live, the WWE United States Championship has no chance of moving to Raw, Rollins is retaining. You’d be a liar if you said you didn’t forget that during this bout though.
It’s no secret that Rollins has been on fire recently but the Miz just stepped up another level here and told a brilliant story from start to finish. With a tweaked knee and some brilliantly innovative Skull-Crushing Finale setups for near-falls, I was on the edge of my seat and couldn’t wait for the rest of the card. That feeling lasted about five minutes.
