WWE
A number of entertaining championship matches have taken across WWE programming this year, between Raw, SmackDown, NXT and premium live events.
While WWE has drastically cut down the number of non-televised house shows it holds in the past few years, the remaining events are important as they allow the wrestlers to test out rivalries before they reach our screens.
With many house show match-ups later making their way to WWE TV, here are three more live event championship bouts which we could soon see ran back on televised shows.
Trick Williams vs Damian Priest – United States Championship
Despite currently holding the US Championship, Trick Williams appears to be set for more confrontations with Undisputed WWE Champion Sami Zayn, following their confrontation on the October 16 SmackDown episode.
If Williams’ focus remains on SmackDown’s top title, we could see him underestimate an upcoming challenger and potentially lose the gold he already has.
Trick Williams’ most recent title defense took place at the October 15 house show in Winnipeg, Canada, with the titleholder defeating Damian Priest to retain the gold.
With Priest fresh off a heel turn after betraying R-Truth, we could soon see the former World Heavyweight Champion become a US Title contender on WWE TV.
Chad Gable vs Saquon Shugars – Intercontinental Championship
Following his Intercontinental Championship win at SummerSlam, Chad Gable paid a visit to NXT to test some top Performance Center prospects.
The first NXT name who Gable faced off against was Saquon Shugars, with the Raw star putting the Intercontinental Championship on the line at the September 25 NXT house show in Columbia, South Carolina.
If Gable pays a proper visit to NXT TV, Shugars could be one of the stars the main roster champion could face, giving the prospect a sink or swim moment on TV.
One of WWE’s most gifted technicians, if there’s any main roster star you’d want to work with Performance Center names, it’s Chad Gable.
Austin Theory & Bron Breakker vs Oba Femi & LA Knight – World Tag Team Championship
Bron Breakker and Austin Theory of The Vision won back the World Tag Team Championship on the July 6 Raw episode, and haven’t defended the title on TV in the 103 days since.
While Breakker and Theory haven’t had a televised title defense since then, they’ve defended the gold several times on the house show circuit, including against Oba Femi and LA Knight on August 20, 22, 23, 29 and 30.
Oba Femi has recently found himself locking horns with several members of The Vision, notably facing Bron Breakker on the September 6 Saturday Night’s Main Event special, and defeating Bronson Reed at Money in the Bank.
While many believe that the World Heavyweight Championship is in Oba Femi’s future, we could see him take a leaf out of Cody Rhodes’ book and win tag-team gold first, and LA Knight could be the star to help The Ruler dethrone The Vision.
