Nick Aldis has held the position of WWE SmackDown General Manager for three years now.

Since coming into the company in 2023, it feels like Aldis has taken to this role on WWE TV, but many fans have questioned when he would possibly step back in the ring.

WWE could be thinking about some possible replacements that might allow Aldis to resume his in-ring career in the near future.

Here are seven potential WWE replacements for Nick Aldis.

7. Adam Pearce

While Nick Aldis has been the SmackDown General Manager, Adam Pearce has held the same position on Monday Night Raw.

Now one of WWE’s longest tenured authority figures, Pearce has showcased what makes him a capable talker and personality that fit the GM role.

Pearce and Aldis have worked hand-and-hand with one another over the past few years, but it would not be surprising to see one replace the other.

Considering he has controlled both brands in the past, Pearce has what it takes to hold down the fort in both Raw and SmackDown as the General Manager of the two brands.

6. Robert Stone

Another current authority figure who could take over the SmackDown General Manager role is Robert Stone.

After reigning as Assistant to NXT General Manager Ava for a couple of years, Robert Stone took control of the brand following Ava’s exit.

Since then, Stone has shown his poise and class with doing an admirable job as the NXT GM.

With his success in NXT, Stone should be in the conversation to replace Nick Aldis if he steps down as SmackDown General Manager.

5. The Miz

The Miz has always seemed like someone who would do well as an authority figure in the future.

‘The A-Lister’ holds himself with professionalism and is usually seen wearing a custom made suit.

With his expert talking ability, it would make sense if The Miz decided to take on a role as a General Manager by the end of his in-ring career.

Considering all his interactions with authority figures over the years, The Miz becoming SmackDown GM in Aldis’ place would be fitting and pay off all the story they have told about his relationship with authority.

4. JBL

Over in Lucha Libre AAA, JBL found himself lobbying to become the AAA General Manager when the company looked for a new authority figure.

John Bradshaw Layfield currently serves as the English color commentator for AAA.

While Rey Mysterio was chosen to become AAA GM, JBL could step up to take on some authority sometime in the future.

JBL replacing Nick Aldis to become the new SmackDown GM would make a ton of sense with his history as a top star and commentator on the blue brand in the 2000s.

3. Wade Barrett

Another person who has served as a color commentator on Friday Night SmackDown in the past is Wade Barrett.

The five-time WWE Intercontinental Champion has made a seamless transition to the commentary team in recent years.

Now one half of the voice of SmackDown, Barrett has become someone who is a dependable part of WWE programming.

Barrett transitioning to yet another role would be fascinating to see him become an authority figure and serve as the new SmackDown GM in Nick Aldis’ place.

2. AJ Styles

At WWE Royal Rumble 2026, GUNTHER defeated AJ Styles to end Styles’ in-ring career.

Since then, Styles has decided to honor the pre-match stipulation and was even inducted into the 2026 WWE Hall of Fame.

After confirming his re-signing with WWE at the start of 2026, Styles will remain as an ambassador, recruiter and coach.

With his success as an in-ring performer, ‘The Phenomenal One’ has the talking ability to be a refreshing change of pace as the SmackDown General Manager instead of Nick Aldis.

1. Danhausen

At WWE Elimination Chamber 2026, Danhausen made his debut with the company as the individual inside of the mystery crate.

After his debut in the company, Danhausen has since been mostly featured outside of the squared circle.

The ‘Very Nice, Very Evil’ star has become one of the most popular acts in all of WWE today.

Wanting to give him a unique role in the company, Danhausen could replace Nick Aldis as SmackDown General Manager moving forward.
