Gunther has opened up on becoming the ‘Career Killer’ in WWE after retiring Goldberg, John Cena and AJ Styles.

At Saturday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta back in July, Gunther retained his World Heavyweight Championship against Goldberg in what was Goldberg’s final match of his career.

Following the win, Gunther would go on to retire John Cena in his final match at Saturday Night’s Main Event that December, as well as AJ Styles back at the Royal Rumble in Riyadh.

He said:

“It feels fantastic. You’ve got to put yourself in my shoes, when I was a teenager I played video games with those characters, then I find myself in the last match of those guys like John Cena and Goldberg, AJ I obviously started following later.

“It’s surreal for a moment, but you kick out of it quickly, you’ve got to be focused in the moment, but it’s great to be to the one that can claim I sent them away, it was time to go. I decided when it was time to go.”

“Right now? I don’t think he has the chance to show it a lot at the moment but I think Axiom actually is the best technical wrestler on the main roster right now.

“He’s in a tag team doing different kind of matches right now, but when he gets the chance to show his skills, I think he’s by far the best technical wrestler we have.”
