Former AEW World Tag Team Champion Max Caster has filed a trademark application for the term ‘Volume 2’, according to a recent listing.
The self-declared “Best Wrestler Alive”, Max Caster last competed for AEW on the December 17, 2025 edition of Dynamite, in the Dynamite Diamond Ring Battle Royal.
A recent filing with the USPTO has given an indication of a potential new direction for Caster, with the United States Patent and Trademark Office serial number 99845764 covering the wordmark “VOLUME 2”.
The Goods and Services description for the application covers:
IC 041: Providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer; Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Entertainment services, namely, televised appearances by a professional wrestler and sports entertainer; Entertainment services, namely, personal appearances by a professional wrestler and sports entertainer; Entertainment services, namely, live appearances by a professional wrestler and sports entertainer; Providing online interviews featuring professional wrestler and sports entertainer in the field of professional wrestling and sports entertainment for entertainment purposes.
While it remains to be seen how “Volume 2” will manifest, the chances of Caster and Anthony Bowens continuing as The Acclaimed were scotched when the latter joined The Opps in April of this year.
Tag Team Success Didn’t Transfer To Singles Glory
Signing with AEW in November 2020, Max Caster teamed with Anthony Bowens as The Acclaimed, adding Billy Gunn to their number and going on to be World Trios Champions, in addition to their time as World Tag Team Champions.
A heel turn saw dissension within The Acclaimed, with Caster eventually going his own way, leading to the star engaging in a series of open challenges, although success was very much non-existent as he faced a litany of popular stars.
Bowens has previously stated that he feared he would lose his job due to some of the things that Caster was doing, suggesting it was just a recurring theme for the AEW stars.
Despite breaking away from his tag team partner, Caster wasn’t able to replicate the championship success he had with Caster and Gunn, and it could be argued that there just wasn’t room for him to thrive in the AEW singles scene.
While not every star will experience a championship run, there’s something disappointing in the idea that Caster, a capable talent on the microphone and in the ring, wasn’t able to parlay his tag team experience into a singles title run, particularly when AEW has five men’s titles, while ROH has three.
Perhaps it’s time for Caster to refresh and refocus, leading to ‘Volume 2’ of his professional wrestling career.
