Gunther has explained why he is the ‘man without phrases’ in WWE ahead of his match with Cody Rhodes at Clash In Italy.

WWE is set to host it’s first premium live event in Italy this Sunday, when Clash In Italy takes place in Turin.

On the night, Gunther is set to challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship, with the two butting heads in recent weeks following Gunther’s move over to the SmackDown brand following WrestleMania 42.

Since his victory at WrestleMania, Cody has adopted the phrase ‘easy to find, hard to beat’ for his run as WWE Champion, but Gunther won’t be firing back with new catchphrases of his own.

Gunther Says He’s ‘The Man Without Phrases’

Speaking to Rompipallone, Gunther was asked what the perfect catchphrase would be for him in response to Cody’s new phrase.

He said:

“I’m the man without phrases I think. There’s a reason why I don’t have any catchphrases or something like that, because I leave that to people like Cody Rhodes who can give themselves all kinds of cool names, cool sounding names that’s easy for the marketing department to use and put on t-shirts.

“That’s not me, I’m not interested in that part. I’m interested in what happens in the ring, that’s my number one.”

Gunther As Undisputed WWE Champion?

With Gunther coming off a number of major victories, including retiring John Cena, AJ Styles and Goldberg, and scoring a victory over Seth Rollins at WrestleMania, WWE may continue to ride with Gunther throughout the Summer.

Cody Rhodes was reportedly initially set to drop the Undisputed WWE Championship to Randy Orton at WrestleMania 42, but a change of plans saw Rhodes leave Vegas with the title still in his possession.

Gunther taking the championship from Cody would deliver a big change to the top of SmackDown, something that the show desperately needs right now as it continues to largely be an uneventful three hours every Friday night.

Gunther taking the championship and defending it on television against names like Carmelo Hayes, Ilja Dragunov and Royce Keys could help spotlight what is still the company’s primary championship over the next few months.
