Bryan Danielson has officially been removed from the AEW active roster and onto the promotion’s broadcast team.

Danielson last wrestled at WrestleDream 2024 in October of that year, dropping the AEW World Championship to Jon Moxley.

At the time, Danielson stated that would be the last match of his full-time career, and other than a very brief eight-second dark match against Max Caster in June 2025, he hasn’t wrestled since.

In recent months, Danielson has joined the commentary team for AEW Dynamite and pay-per-views.

The official AEW website roster page has been updated today to reflect that Danielson is no longer an active member of the men’s roster, as he has been removed from that section and into the broadcast team section.

Despite his absence from the ring since 2024 and regular presence on commentary throughout the past few months, the change has just been made.

Bryan Danielson A Valuable Addition To AEW’s Commentary Team

Since his addition to the AEW commentary team, Bryan Danielson has proved to be a valuable asset, growing into the role and providing a perspective that not many people can – that being the perspective of one of the greatest wrestlers of all time.

Sometimes critiqued for his bluntless, that isn’t always a negative, as it’s sometimes needed on the AEW commentary team with the likes of Excalibur, Taz and Tony Schiavone often leaning into the comedic side of things.

Danielson is more than adept at that too, but sometimes his blunt approach – such as questioning why someone isn’t climbing a ladder in a ladder match when they clearly have the chance too – can create a trust with viewers that has often been lacking in WWE commentary over the years when the announcers act completely oblivious to things that are obvious to anyone watching.
