AEW
An AEW is not listed internally as a member of a new faction, despite his allegiance to them on recent shows.
Although, Ari Daivari has recently been teaming with members of Varsity Athletes (Tony Nese & Josh Woods) making appearances on mostly AEW Dark: Elevation, he’s also been part of The Trustbusters, appearing on the recent ROH TV tapings, AEW Dark and AEW Rampage, but they’ve also popped up on Dynamite recently too.
Internally, Fightful Select (subscription required) notes, Daivari is still listed as a member of The Trustbusters and not of Varsity Athletes.
Trustbusters are the team of Daivari, Slim J, Sonny Kiss and Jeeves Kay, with Parker Boudreaux formerly a member before he joined Swerve Strickland’s Mogul Affiliates.
The collective debuted in AEW in June 2022 and were involved in the AEW World Trios Title Tournament in August on AEW Rampage.
They would also compete in the ROH World Six Man Tag Team Title match at AEW Dark: Elevation in November 2022.
Josh Woods and Tony Nese would team together from August 2022 and would defeat Brian Pillman Jr & Griff Garrison, The Varsity Blonds, in October 2022 with the AEW attorney-at-law Smart Mark Sterling revealing that he had trademarked the word “Varsity” for use in professional wrestling.
It would also be revealed that AEW had, indeed, filed a trademark for “Varsity Athletes”.
