Billy Gunn’s presentation during Dynamite: Grand Slam appears to have indicated that the star has officially underwent a name change.
During the September 21 show, Gunn accompanied The Acclaimed to the ring for their AEW Tag Team Championship bout against Swerve in our Glory.
Max Caster & Anthony Bowens ultimately scored a victory over Keith Lee & Swerve Strickland, winning the title after 13 minutes of action.
During The Acclaimed’s entrance, Billy Gunn was announced to the arena as ‘Daddy Ass’. The nameplate also referred to Gunn as ‘Daddy Ass’, indicating that this is officially his new AEW name.
As of writing, Gunn is listed on the AEW website roster page as ‘Billy Gunn of the Gunn Club’.
Several other titles changed hands during Dynamite: Grand Slam. Former AEW World Champion Chris Jericho defeated Claudio Castagnoli to win the ROH World Championship, ending Castagnoli’s 60 day reign with the gold.
Jon Moxley also defeated Bryan Danielson to win the vacant AEW World Championship.
