AEW star Willow Nightingale is no longer the NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion, dropping the gold at the NJPW Independence Day night two show.
Nightingale’s luggage will be considerably lighter when heading back to the US, with the popular star no longer holding the NJPW STRONG Women’s Title.
The inaugural champion put her gold on the line in a match against STARDOM standout Giulia.
Nightingale ultimately came up short, with Giulia defeating the champion with a Glorious Driver to become the second ever STRONG Women’s Champion.
You can view a photo of Giulia with her new title below.
The AEW name previously won the gold at the May 21 NJPW Resurgence event, defeating Mercedes Mone in the finals of the one-night tournament for the gold.
Mone notably suffered a broken ankle in this match, and is still out of action recovering from her injury.
Giulia previously called out Willow Nightingale at STARDOM’s Sunshine 2023 event on June 25.
Nightingale last wrestled for AEW that same day, unsuccessfully challenging for Toni Storm’s AEW Women’s Championship at AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door 2023.
AEW’s Jon Moxley was involved in an insane gruesome spot at NJPW Independence Day night one, which you can read more about right here.
