CM Punk Isn’t A Wrestler Claims WWE Hall Of Famer AEW

A WWE Hall of Famer has claimed that CM Punk isn’t a wrestler in a recent discussion about the former AEW World Champion.

WWE Senior Vice President of Live Events Brian “Road Dogg” James had made his stance on CM Punk as a person clear on his Oh… You Didn’t Know? podcast (subscription required) and went on to describe Punk the sports entertainer, saying:

“I think Punk’s a great example of a guy that if you just went with wrestler, wrestler, wrestler, wouldn’t have made it without the attitude, mic skills and I don’t want to say character because Punk was never really a character, he was just himself, but he’s good at it.

“He made people tune in and get behind it. I don’t have to like you, take you out for dinner [to work with you].”

Despite his dislike of CM Punk, James recently addressed the possibility of a return to WWE for the former three-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion, saying “never say never with these guys.”

It was recently reported that CM Punk is still under contract with AEW and that it is “months away” before Tony Khan will have to decide on his next steps.

CM Punk hasn’t been on AEW television since the incident at the post-All Out media scrum in September 2022.

The press conference saw Punk verbally attack the EVPs of AEW, among others.

This lead to a backstage brawl that saw tempers flare and various individuals involved suspended.

Since these events, suspensions have been served but CM Punk has been absent without explanation from AEW management.
