AEW Star Clarifies Recent Comments Believed To Reference CM Punk

An AEW star has clarified comments they made that fans believed to be in reference to CM Punk’s recent interview.

Last night’s AEW Dynamite opened up with Adam Copeland in the ring, where he cut an impassioned promo about AEW, which many interpreted to be a ‘rah rah speech’ about the company following CM Punk’s recent interview.

Following the show, Dax Harwood also took to the mic, where he also cut an impassioned promo about AEW, featuring a line about letting people ‘steal your joy’, which many took as a shot at Punk.

Reacting to a Fightful article about the promo, Dax clarified his comments, noting that the comment was not directed at anyone.

He said:

Try to stay off social media but I read this this morning and I have to respond. I respect fightful’s reporting, but This is a reach. I was in the ring with 3 great friends, in front of a great crowd, realizing what we had all overcame, and felt emotional.

In NO way was anything I said about “stealing joy” directed at anyone…much less one of my best friends. Come on now.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful then apologised for the article, to which Dax responded, noting that ‘rah rah speeches’ are a thing he always does if he’s the last person in the ring, including times he did so alongside Punk.

He added:

It’s ok dude. I don’t blame you. That’s why I said I respect your reporting. I just wanted to clear up anything.

If I’m the last guy in the ring at the end of the night, I ALWAYS cut a passionate rah rah speech and talk about loving my wife daughter and wrestling in front of the crowd.

Done it multiple times with Adam, a TON of times with Punk, and I’ve even done it after ROH tapings. It’s never been a headline before. I guess the timing made it newsworthy.
