An AEW star cost CM Punk and FTR their shot at the AEW Trios Championship on tonight’s episode of AEW Collision (August 12).
After an earlier in ring promo segment saw Samoa Joe call out CM Punk for not answering his challenge, he vowed to find CM Punk to convince him to respond.
And as fans all know, Samoa Joe can be a very convincing man and it was the frightening ROH Television Champion who interrupted the main event of Collision, albeit in a stealthy manner.
Said main event was of course CM Punk and FTR challenging the House of Black for the AEW Trios Title.
When CM Punk dove outside of the ring onto Malakai Black with a landing that looked a little rough, things didn’t get easier for the ‘Real’ World Champion as he was soon attacked.
Samoa Joe appeared from just over the barricade, putting CM Punk in a choke hold and dragging him up and over the barricade to continue his submission hold on the floor of the arena, all while the action continued in the ring.
With Julia Hart providing a distraction to the referee so he didn’t see Joe attacking Punk, Brody King was able to land a monstrous lariat to eventually pick up the pinfall victory and the title retention for the House of Black.
Samoa Joe disappeared as quickly as he appeared, not before doing a little bit more taunting of course.
It looks like we are indeed headed to CM Punk vs Samoa Joe at All In in London’s Wembley Stadium.
Elsewhere on tonight’s Collision, it was revealed one fan favorite star would absolutely be missing both AEW All In and AEW All Out as he was suspended from in-ring competition for 30 days. You can click here to read more about that.
