A new report has revealed that AEW’s broadcast home, Warner Bros. Discovery is in talks to merge with Paramount.
The wrestling world has been speculating about the future of All Elite Wrestling on Warner Bros. Discovery with the company’s media rights deal with the broadcast company set to expire in the fall of 2024.
Recent reports and rumours have indicated that WWE is also in talks with WBD for the rights to WWE Raw, which deal with USA Network also expires around the same time.
In a new report from Axios, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav met with Paramount Global CEO Bob Bakish on Tuesday, December 19 in New York City to discuss a possible merger.
Zaslav reportedly spoke with Shari Redstone, whose National Amusements Inc. owns a controlling stake in Paramount Global. They met in regards to a possible merger between the two companies as well.
The report notes that Redstone has reportedly been in talks to sell her shares in NAI.
Deadline provided an update, noting that the talks were “all rather preliminary,” while Variety reports that talks between the two companies were held.
It is unknown how this potential merger may affect either AEW or WWE at the time of this writing.
