The WWE backstage reaction to John Cena’s impending return has been revealed.

Cena is slated to appear on tonight’s episode of WWE Raw, which airs exactly 20 years after Cena’s ‘official’ WWE debut in 2002.

Per WrestleVotes, WWE stars are excited for the return of the locker-room’s ‘ultimate leader’:

“Aside from the obvious business boost, I’m told the return of John Cena is as exciting for the locker room as it is for the fans. Cena is viewed as the ultimate leader, w/ his positive presence felt throughout the company when he’s around.”

The announcement of Cena’s return led to a significant increase in ticket sales, which you can read more about right here.

Cena last wrestled on WWE TV at SummerSlam 2021, losing to Universal Champion Roman Reigns in the main event of the show.

Ahead of his appearance on tonight’s show, Cena has teased a feud with US Champion Theory, leading to speculation that Cena will face Theory at SummerSlam on July 30.
