Bianca Belair thinks that “it’s an amazing time” for WWE’s black representation.
Belair is the reigning Raw Women’s Champion and has firmly established herself as one of WWE’s top stars. As a black woman, Belair represents a huge change for the company.
In a new interview with ESSENCE, the Raw Women’s Champion discussed the promotion’s current black representation.
She said:
“I do feel like I’ve come into the WWE at an amazing time, where there’s a lot of Black representation on the roster, both the female side and the male side. I was fortunate to be the first Black female to main event WrestleMania, and I even earned an ESPY off of that match.”
Belair continued on to discuss how she feels to be part of so many important moments like being one of the first black woman to headline WrestleMania, saying:
“I’m blessed and fortunate to be in the WWE where I’m encouraged to go out there and be unapologetically myself. Just showing up as myself and encouraging other people to do the same is amazing.”
Bianca Belair defeated Becky Lynch to retain the Raw Women’s Championship at last Saturday’s SummerSlam event. She was then confronted by the returning Bayley, IYO SKY and Dakota Kai.
