Brodie Lee Handpicked Anna Jay’s Dark Order Number

Those of us here in Canada love our hockey and when hockey mixes with wrestling, that’s even better. Now, TSN Wrestling has pointed out the hockey influence Brodie Lee had on the Dark Order.

TSN tweeted today an excerpt from Lee’s interview on AEW Unrestricted from earlier this year. During the interview, he revealed that he personally picked Anna Jay’s Dark Order number to be a reference to Wayne Gretzky.

“Anna Jay was the only [Dark Order number] that I had a hand in. She’s 99 because Wayne Gretzky wore 99. He was ‘The Great One’, so that was my nod to hockey. I was very proud of that. Nobody gets it. Nobody cares, except me.”

Anna Jay joined the Dark Order earlier this year on AEW Dynamite. To date, she is the only female member of the group. Jay has since taken to Twitter to dedicate her performance tonight to Brodie Lee. Tonight’s show will be a tribute show to honour Lee’s memory.

Brodie Lee was a huge hockey fan with people like Edge recalling times where they spoke at length about the NHL with other WWE stars.

Wayne Gretzky is in many people’s opinion the greatest hockey player of all time. He holds records in almost every significant offensive category in the NHL. Throughout his career, he wore the jersey number 99.
