Chad Gable has revealed what was the turning point of his career.
2023 has been a huge year for Chad Gable with the former Olympian experiencing the most singles success of his entire WWE run. Gable has picked up huge wins and put on a very memorable series of matches against Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER.
Outside of his singles achievements, Gable’s partnership with Otis and Maxxine Dupri in the Alpha Academy has also gained a great deal of popularity this year as well.
Appearing on WWE Die Woche, Chad Gable revealed that the turning point in his career was realizing that his on-screen character can be comedic while still being a credible challenger to a championship. He said:
“That was one of the big turning points in my career I had to make mentally was realizing that like, you can do the funny, entertaining stuff and doesn’t always just have to be funny but like entertaining.”
“The things that maybe you didn’t come in thinking you would do. You come in thinking you’re gonna be this serious, I’m gonna beat everybody up all the time but, not everybody’s Brock Lesnar, you know?”
“That intimidating and even Brock isn’t afraid to have a little fun out there once in a while so, I think you have to take that step and realize the audience loves that.”
“That’s what makes our WWE universe connect with you is when they can see you kind of being able to make fun of yourself a little bit, laugh at yourself and they like to have fun along with that but then, you also gotta remember that it’s a fight out there. So when the bell rings, that stuff goes away.”
“Especially in a match with GUNTHER like you talked about, when there’s championships on the line and you’re in the main event of Raw. It gets very serious very quick so…”
