There may have been a change made to an upcoming major championship match planned to happen in WWE.
On SmackDown in recent weeks, WWE Women’s Champion Asuka has been fighting off challenges from both Bianca Belair and Charlotte Flair.
Bianca caused a disqualification between Asuka and Charlotte on SmackDown in London, with Charlotte accidentally doing the same to Bianca on this week’s SmackDown show.
The story was reportedly leading to a Triple Threat match between the three at SummerSlam, but a new wrinkle has entered the feud.
IYO SKY became the Women’s Money In The Bank winner at Money In The Bank in London, with both her and Bayley teasing that she will cash in the contract for the past two weeks.
With IYO and Bayley now involved in the storyline, it has led to speculation that Bayley could find herself involved in the title match at SummerSlam to make it a four-way.
Well, at last night’s WWE live event in Fairfax, Virginia, that was exactly the match that took place, with Asuka retaining her championship against Charlotte, Bianca and Bayley.
Asuka would win by pinning Bayley after Bianca had hit her with the KOD.
Obviously this does not guarantee that Bayley will be involved in the match at SummerSlam, but WWE often trial runs matches planned for premium live events on live events before the show.
