Charlotte Flair has reflected on her and Tiffany Stratton’s “super personal” rivalry heading into WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas, as well as their match for the WWE Women’s Championship.
At Night One of WrestleMania 41 on April 19, Tiffany Stratton defended her WWE Women’s Title against one of the company’s all-time greats in Charlotte Flair.
The match itself was physical and heated, fitting given the highly personal nature of the feud that built between the two stars ahead of WrestleMania.
Most famously their infamous promo exchange on the April 4 episode of SmackDown reportedly went off script, with Stratton mentioning Flair’s recent divorce from fellow WWE star Andrade, and Flair hitting back by claiming that Stratton’s boyfriend Ludwig Kaiser was “in her DM’s”.
Speaking Sports Illustrated on The Takedown, Flair reflected on her feud with Stratton, admitting that while their feud at times got “extremely heated”, their WrestleMania match itself was “everything it needed to be”.
Flair said:
“I think the match was everything that it needed to be. It definitely got super personal, extremely heated going into WrestleMania.
“The personal story and how physical it was, the elaborate entrances, we both had our own unique entrance. I thought she showed up and showed out. I thought it was great.”
Since WrestleMania, Flair has found little success in her attempts to reach the WWE Women’s Title picture once again, failing to qualify for the women’s Money in the Bank match, as well as the semi-finals of the Queen of the Ring Tournament.
On last night’s SmackDown however, Flair and unlikely tag team partner Alexa Bliss booked their spot in the WWE Women’s Tag Team Title match at Evolution on July 13.
