Hall of Famer AJ Styles has commented on interim WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green’s status following her recent injury.
Less than a week following her interim WWE Women’s Championship ladder match victory, Chelsea Green suffered a broken orbital bone on the August 7 SmackDown episode.
During the August 14 SmackDown episode, GM Nick Aldis stated that he’s giving Green 30 days to get cleared to defend the title before he strips her of the gold.
Speaking on the AJ Styles Show, the Phenomenal One recalled speaking with Chelsea Green at the Performance Center following her injury, noting that she’s “doing okay”.
Believing that we’ll soon see Chelsea Green wrestling in a mask, AJ Styles said:
“They’re going to throw a mask on her, I’m sure of it. I actually did get to see her, I believe she lives in Florida, I saw her at the Performance Center. She’s doing okay, she’s not mad about the situation, but it is what it is. She said she has some bad luck.
“To me, when I see someone get hurt and they go ‘Nope, we’re still doing this,’ to me, it makes them a bigger babyface. Becky Lynch became a super duper star because she got punched in the face… She became a star because of it, because that picture of her all bloodied up going ‘Come on’ was so freaking awesome.
“Liv Morgan is one of the toughest people I know. She gets busted up all the time and keeps coming back.”

AJ Styles is temporarily filling in as a Performance Center coach and NXT producer. He recently helped to produce the Cruz Montana vs Grayson Waller NXT Championship #1 contender’s match from the August 11 episode.
This was the match which ended with Zilla Fatu’s WWE debut, something which Styles has since commented on.
An interim WWE Women’s Championship was introduced at SummerSlam due to official champion Rhea Ripley being out of action due to a knee injury.
Ripley recently confirmed that she had surgery on her knee, telling her fans that she’ll see them down the road.
The official WWE Women’s Champion has been on the shelf for almost two months, last wrestling in six-woman tag-team action at the June 3 house show in Portugal.
