WWE Hall of Famer AJ Styles has commented on Zilla Fatu’s NXT debut, which took place during a match he helped out with behind the scenes.

The son of the late Umaga, Zilla Fatu showed up in the closing moments of Cruz Montana vs Grayson Waller on the August 11 NXT episode.

The NXT Championship #1 contender’s bout ended as a no-contest, following the Anoa’i family member laying out both Montana and Waller.

Speaking on The AJ Styles Show, the Phenomenal One confirmed that he helped out as a producer with Montana vs Waller.

Commenting on Zilla Fatu’s debut, AJ Styles said:

“Then, lo and behold, we get Zilla Fatu come out from the people and take it to both Grayson Waller and Cruz Montana, and it was freaking awesome. He looks like a star, just his presence, it’s very intimidating.

“Zilla Fatu looks so intimidating, if you don’t know how scary he is, he did those splashes without knee pads.  It was really cool, the fans went crazy in NXT, so yeah, it was a really cool moment.”

Zilla Fatu made his wrestling debut in July 2023, after training with Booker T at Reality of Wrestling.

Prior to his NXT debut, Zilla had already crossed paths with a number of current WWE names in other companies, previously sharing the ring with the likes of Baron Corbin and Bully Ray.

He is related by blood to a number of current WWE stars, including Jacob Fatu, The Usos, Solo Sikoa and Roman Reigns.

Several WWE names publicly pushed for WWE to sign Zilla Fatu, with Paul Heyman stating in March that he felt WWE would’ve been remiss if they didn’t sign Zilla “at the very first opportunity”.

The next few weeks of NXT programming will be very intriguing, as we will learn how the company intends to present Zilla.

With there already being numerous Anoa’i/Fatu family members in WWE, and the company having introduced a plethora of new signees in recent months, there is a risk that Zilla Fatu could get lost in the shuffle, so WWE and Zilla will have to make an impact soon to establish the new star as a top prospect.
