WWE/Roman Reigns on X
The mouth has been at the heart of recent words exchanged by CM Punk and Roman Reigns ahead of their WWE WrestleMania 42 match.
With their hatred of each other being a running theme over the past weeks, April 19 will see CM Punk put the WWE World Heavyweight Championship up against Roman Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania 42 Night Two.
Reigns recently took to Twitter to share his thoughts on CM Punk, criticizing his infrequent championship defenses, UFC history, and lambasting the idea that they are in any way equals, before declaring, “Keep my f**king name out your mouth.”
CM Punk would address the tirade during an appearance on ESPN Get Up, commenting that “this is about pro wrestling versus cinema”, before making it clear what he intends to do to Reigns come Sunday, stating:
“My response is, man, I wish he brought that energy the days he actually decided to show up on a couple of Mondays.
“Look, I take nothing away from Roman. Tremendous superstar, he has the credentials, he’s a heavyweight, he’s gonna be a tough out for me, but I’m not looking to lose on Sunday. I’m sure he isn’t either.
“But this is about pro wrestling versus cinema, and I’m glad that he had four days to shower and think about what he would say to me in a rebuttal and did it in a car while I wasn’t around. But I’m gonna be around and in his face on Sunday. I’m gonna send him to the orthodontist, I’m gonna make his orthodontist a very rich person.”

The “cinema” in question may refer to Reigns and his role in the upcoming live action Street Fighter movie, which sees The OTC star as Akuma alongside Cody Rhodes as Guile, or the label fans often used for The Bloodline saga storyline which dominated WWE TV for four years between 2020-2024.
A Different Time, A Different WrestleMania
For the first time in his two WWE runs, CM Punk main evented WrestleMania last year, competing against Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins in a Triple Threat match to close out Night One of the 2025 premium live event.
With WrestleMania spanning two nights, this year’s event sees Punk main event Night Two on April 19, closing the weekend of WWE action.
There were plans, it appears, for Punk to be in the main event spot at a past WrestleMania, specifically during his first run, which came to an end in 2014.
Punk has recently revealed that a main event match was WrestleMania was seemingly used to “manipulate” him, with WWE knowing it was something that the star had sought during his time with the company.
Now, under a Triple H-led WWE, Punk is in rarefied company, soon to have main evented both nights of WrestleMania, alongside Reigns and Cody Rhodes.
