Carmelo Hayes has opened up on missing out on WWE WrestleMania 42 after his United States Championship loss.
Carmelo Hayes lost his United States Championship to Sami Zayn back on the March 27 episode of SmackDown, with Sami set to defend the title against Trick Williams at WrestleMania 42.
With Sami defeating Hayes in a rematch the following week, Hayes is set to miss out on this year’s WrestleMania card for the second year in a row.
Carmelo Hayes Opens Up On Missing WrestleMania 42
Speaking to Nightcap, Hayes was asked about his thoughts on missing this year’s show, and how he remains patient for his success in WWE.
He said:
“I feel like it’s staying ready and just knowing I’m talented enough to, if they give me the ball, it’s guaranteed. That’s really what my mentality has always been.
“You ever heard that phrase ‘success is not earned it’s given’, I feel like that’s a lot with WWE, anybody really, until they give you the ball how will they know if you can score, until they put you on the field how do they know if you can make a play.
“I think that’s really what it comes down to with what we do is waiting for the ball, or waiting for them to put you in.”

Other Names Missing WrestleMania 42
While there are 13 matches set for WrestleMania 42, there are also a number of notable WWE stars who are without a match on the biggest show of the year, including Carmelo Hayes.
Among those are IYO SKY and Tiffany Stratton, who both walked into and out of last year’s WrestleMania event in Allegiant Stadium as Women’s World Champion and WWE Women’s Champion respectively.
Women’s United States Champion Giulia and WWE Tag Team Champions Damian Priest & R-Truth are also set to miss out on this year’s event as the only champions not featured on the show.
Other notable names missing this year’s WrestleMania show include Ilja Dragunov, Asuka, Kairi Sane, Roxanne Perez, Raquel Rodriguez, Solo Sikoa and Bron Breakker, with Breakker being reportedly cleared from his injury a number of weeks ago, though the company decided to go with Rollins vs. Gunther instead of the planned Rollins vs. Breakker match.
